Ayumi ashi — Movement —
歩み足 Step / lower limb
Ayumi ashi is a way of mobilising and moving the body in different ways and directions. In junomichi, movement is neither a simple walk nor a formal exercise, but involves control of the whole body. The lower limbs participate in the movement without being its origin. Ayumi ashi is the effective use of the lower part of the body. It is particularly evident in the koshiki no kata, where the amplitude of movement is reduced, and where displacement is clearly initiated by the action of the hara. The body thus follows a continuous movement. |
